“The Life Rooms has been a life saver for me”

My problems started when I returned to my native Merseyside during the pandemic. Moving home was stressful. Then the kitchen extension of my new house started to have roof issues.

Covid also made it hard to meet up with old friends or make new friends in the area. I’d moved for the right reason – to purchase my own property- but it was a huge wrench leaving the south of England where I’d lived and worked for so many years.

Since moving I’d been living off my savings, but they were disappearing fast. I couldn’t afford to do the things I used to enjoy, like health club membership and particularly boxercise and spin classes. Everything was getting on top of me, and I became depressed.

I went to see my GP, medication wasn’t enough to beat depression and she suggested The Life Rooms to me. The staff are so welcoming, knowledgeable and up for a laugh- just what you need when you feel down. It’s given me the chance to meet likeminded people and make new friends.

I always feel energised after a Life Rooms visit. I’ve taken part in sessions such as coffee mornings, fitness, quizzes, and music appreciation. For an hour or two, you can forget about your troubles. There’s no magic wand that can solve your problems, but you get hints and tips that can help. In addition, the Life Rooms can assist its service users with advice on finding employment, finances and home seeking.

If you’re struggling with daily life, I can’t recommend The Life Rooms enough. There, everyone’s opinion matters, regardless of who you are and how you’re feeling. For me, I can honestly say The Life Rooms has been a real lifesaver.
