Feeling down?

You could be finding it hard to think straight, trouble sleeping, feeling stressed and anxious or finding it hard to enjoy the things you used to. If you have been feeling like this for more than a few weeks, it’s time to look at the support available.

Difficult or negative experiences can impact our mood and affect mental wellbeing.  Often, we can’t prevent or control these experiences, especially when faced with difficult circumstances.

It's ok not to be ok

Everyone is different. You may feel like you have too much energy and anxiety that’s difficult to manage, have a feeling of dread each day when you wake or cry more or less than what’s normal for you.

When the way you are feeling is getting in the way of things such as work, parenting or caring responsibilities, or when it’s pushing you to harmful behaviours such as drinking too much alcohol or eating unhealthily – these are signs that it’s time to take action to feel better.

Taking care of yourself can be an important first step to feeling better.

Simple steps like reading a book, having a bath or getting out for a walk can help to clear your head, sleep better and feel more relaxed.

Talking to someone about how you feel such as family, friends or your GP can make a big difference.

See ‘Supporting you’ for more hints and tips on how to look after yourself.
